Before You Begin Installing

Before you install the Feature Pack, please note the following important information.

·         This Feature Pack is intended to update RightFax 9.4 servers and client applications. If you have not installed RightFax 9.4, please contact your reseller or an Open Text sales representative to request the Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition 9.4 installation DVD or to download the DVD image from Open Text.

·         This Feature Pack adds support for Windows Server 2008 x64 and Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 systems. The software runs in 32-bit emulation mode. Download and install the x64 installation program for Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition version 9.4, and then install Feature Pack 1. For more details, including important installation prerequisites, see Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 x64 Support in the Feature Pack 1 Enhancements section of this document.

·         Product Activation is required with Feature Pack 1. If your Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition Version 9.4 installation has not yet been activated through the Product Licensing Utility, you must activate it before installing Feature Pack 1. For more information about product activation, see the activation documents in the Open Text Knowledge Center at https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/open/16050121.

·         This release includes updates for the RightFax connector for Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Microsoft Exchange 2010. It should be installed on Microsoft Exchange 2007 and 2010 servers where the RightFax connector is installed.

·         You must apply this update to all RightFax 9.4 servers before installing it on RightFax 9.4 remote servers.

·         After the Feature Pack has been installed, do not run the RightFax 9.4 Setup.exe in order to add a feature. Instead, use the Change command in the Windows Add or Remove Programs application. After adding a feature, re-apply Feature Pack 1.

·         An update to this readme file may be available. Verify that you have obtained the most current readme file from the Open Text Knowledge Center, https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/open/15703289.

WARNING Before applying this update, if you have one or more Dialogic® Brooktrout® TR1034 fax boards installed, you must confirm that the file BtCall.cfg in the \RightFax\DocTransport\Brooktrout folder is not set to read-only. If it is, remove the read-only attribute from the file before applying the Feature Pack. Installing the Feature Pack with this file set to read-only will fail to properly update the file and will render the fax boards inoperable.

WARNING Before applying this update, all remote RightFax services must be shut down. If they are not shut down, data loss can occur. Also, database scripts could be run while a remote server is accessing the database, causing a failure to upgrade the database.

WARNING If you are performing a new installation of RightFax 9.4 and/or the Fax Server has not yet been configured, Feature Pack 1 installation requires files from the original installation media. Keep the RightFax 9.4 base installation media in the drive or in the same network location while installing Feature Pack 1.

Downloading the Feature Pack

Download Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition 9.4 Feature Pack 1 from https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/open/15703289.

Updates to the user documentation are included with this Feature Pack. Note the following errata and updates.

FP1 Errata

·         The Administrator’s Guide has been updated with information for x64 operating systems.

·         The Installation Guide has been updated with information for x64 operating systems.

·         The Microsoft Exchange Module Guide has been updated with information about Exchange 2010.

·         Reconfigure the Captaris Sync Module after deleting Organizational Units. This note applies if you are synchronizing the Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition user database with Active Directory by using the Captaris Sync Module. If a synchronized Organizational Unit (OU) is deleted from Active Directory, it is not automatically deleted from the Captaris Sync Module configuration. Run the Captaris Sync Module configuration program and edit the affected filter to remove the deleted OU. If the deleted OU is not removed from the filter, the synchronization process will fail because it cannot bind to the OU. For more information about the Captaris Sync Module, see the Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition Administrator’s Guide, Chapter 7.

SR4 Errata

·         In order to view the online help for Enterprise Fax Manager and “What’s This?” (dialog box field level) help for FaxUtil, users of Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista will need to download and install the WinHelp program from Microsoft. For more information and download links, go to support.microsoft.com/kb/917607. The HTML-based online help for FaxUtil does not require WinHelp.

SR3 Errata

·         The RightFax 9.4 Installation Guide and the RightFax 9.4 Microsoft Exchange Module Guide have been updated to list Windows Server 2008 as a supported operating system.

Enhancements and New Features in Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition 9.4 Feature Pack 1

Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 x64 Support

This Feature Pack adds support for Windows Server 2008 x64 and Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 systems.

The software runs in 32-bit emulation mode on x64 systems. By default, Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition version 9.4 installs in the Program Files (x86) directory. Do not install the software in the Program Files folder on x64 systems because this folder is reserved for 64-bit program files.

A separate version 9.4 installation program for x64 systems is available in the Open Text Knowledge Center. Download and install the x64 installation program for Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition version 9.4, and then install Feature Pack 1. Feature Pack 1 is required for Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 Support.

Server-Side Application document conversion is not supported on Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2. Security restrictions in Windows 2008 and 2008 R2 have affected Server-Side Application document conversion on those systems. For Server-Side Application document conversion, set up a remote WorkServer running Windows 2003 (x86) for document conversion. See the Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition Version 9.4 Feature Pack 1 Administrator’s Guide, Chapter 6 for more information.

To view the Fax Server control panel items on x64 systems, be sure to select View 32-bit control panel items in Control Panel.

The RightFax Lotus Notes Module is not supported on x64 operating systems. The RightFax Lotus Notes Module requires the Notes client to be installed on the Fax Server, and no x64 Notes client is currently available from IBM.

Additional information for Windows Server 2008 R2 users

Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition requires an HP LaserJet 4 printer driver on the server. Windows Server 2008 R2 does not include this driver by default. Before installing the Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition Version 9.4 on Windows Server 2008 R2, install an HP LaserJet 4 printer driver on the computer where you will be installing the Fax Server software.

1.     On the Start menu, click Devices and Printers.

2.     Click the Add a Printer button.

3.     Select Add a local or network printer as an administrator.

4.     Select Add a local printer.

5.     Verify that Use an existing port: LPT1:(Printer Port) is selected.

6.     Click Next.

7.     In the Manufacturer list, click HP.

8.     If HP LaserJet 4 does not appear in the Printer list, click the Windows Update button to add more drivers.

9.     In the Printer list, click HP LaserJet 4.

10.   Click Next.

11.   In the Printer Name box, enter HPFax, and then click Next.

12.   Select the Share the Printer check box and then click Next.

13.   Click Finish.

Because of a change in Active Directory (AD) under Windows Server 2008 R2, deleted users may not be detected by the Captaris Sync Module and therefore may not be deleted from the Fax Server during a sync.

If you are syncing Fax Server users with a Windows 2008 R2 Active Directory source, follow these steps to ensure that users that are deleted from AD will also be deleted from the Fax Server:

1.     In Captaris Sync Module Configuration, click the tab for the AD source, and then click its Output tab.

2.     Under Deleted Users, select Only delete if user is empty from the list.

3.     Select the OPTIONAL: Treat users that were previously synced but are no longer included in the sync as if they had been deleted check box.

For more information about the Captaris Sync Module, see the Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition Administrator’s Guide, chapter 7.

Windows 7 Client Support

Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition version 9.4 Feature Pack 1 provides client support for Windows 7. See the Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition Version 9.4 Feature Pack 1 update of the Installation Guide for information about installing the Fax Server client applications on Windows 7.

Microsoft Exchange 2010 Support

The Connector for Microsoft Exchange has been updated to support Microsoft Exchange 2010. See the Open Text Fax Server Connector for Microsoft Exchange Administrator Guide for more information.

Inbound Faxing with Microsoft Exchange 2010 Unified Messaging

Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition Version 9.4 with Feature Pack 1 is a partner fax solution for Microsoft Exchange 2010 Unified Messaging. Inbound fax calls are detected by Exchange 2010 UM and referred to the Open Text Fax Server for processing. The Open Text Fax Server handles the fax call, receives the fax image, and sends it to the recipient's mailbox as an email message with TIFF image attachment. A Brooktrout SR140 Transport and an IP Gateway supported by Microsoft for Unified Messaging are required. See the Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition Version 9.4 Feature Pack 1 Administrator’s Guide for more information.

Microsoft SharePoint 2007 x64 Support

The Open Text Fax Server Connector for Microsoft SharePoint 2007 has been updated to support Windows Server 20078 and Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 operating systems.

Lotus Notes Support

The RightFax Lotus Notes Module with Lotus Notes 8.5 is supported on Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition Version 9.4 on x86 operating systems with the following exceptions:

·         If building a full mail template during installation, the mail template name must be changed. On Step 5 of the installation process, change the mail template name from mail8.ntf to mail85.ntf.

·         iNotes 8.5 is not supported.

·         Notes forms are not supported with Lotus Notes/Domino 8.5.

The RightFax Lotus Notes Module is not supported on x64 operating systems. The RightFax Lotus Notes Module requires the Notes client to be installed on the Fax Server, and no x64 Notes client is currently available from IBM.
