Electronic faxing saves time and reduces carbon footprint
Law firm Thomas Eggar has got rid of stand-alone fax machines from their six offices. They are now using electronic fax as a two way communication method with clients and suppliers, and between offices.
Why did they do this?
Implementation of a planned and sustainable investment programme to improve Unified Communications throughout the firm.
To cut costs, the ‘people’ time taken to send faxes and improve efficiency.
Managing high volumes of paper faxes was a nightmare at year end, when the billing team is inundated with faxes in a very short space of time, as fee earners rush to get information over to them for invoicing.
Now – 20 energy consuming fax machines have been removed and the costs associated with line rental, machine rental and maintenance, electricity, paper and toner are history. Faxes are sent from the desktop, from any location and transmission takes less than a minute per fax.
How they did this:
- Networked Open Text Fax Server, RightFax Edition server installed on each site. Localised activity at present, with ‘foundation’ in place to build future functionality.
- Fax Server integrated with Outlook – the firm’s primary messaging centre – so faxes in any format can be sent/received from the desktop.
Customer quote:
“Although fax is regarded as an ‘old’ technology it is still a crucial communication medium within law firms. The up to date management of inbound and outbound fax traffic benefits all our legal practice groups, as well as our business support teams, which has enabled us to improve working practices.”
