Education
Government targets, such as the drive to reduce truancy, add a further layer of ‘admin and management’ for busy schools and colleges.
Improving the day-to-day operations and communications by introducing comprehensive, collaborative and efficient IT solutions to replace manual processes will optimise time for staff, students and parents. More time can be spent educating the students and less time on administrative tasks.
Texting has helped drive truancy rates down at Castle View secondary school in Essex. An SMS Gateway is linked to the school’s electronic ‘register’.
Parents are immediately notified by text if their child fails to turn up for registration, with a request to contact the school to provide a reason for absence.
The result is a truancy rate of just 0.5% – placing attendance well above the 95% set by the Government.
