			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>Open Text Document Server, Alchemy Edition 8.3 Service Release 6</h3>
<p>The latest edition of Open Text Document Server, Alchemy Edition (formerly Captaris Alchemy) has now been released. This updates the software to version 8.3 Service Release 6 and includes many significant defect fixes including:</p>
<h3>Alchemy Client</h3>
<p>1. After applying Alchemy 8.3 SR3 clients could not check out a document that had been added/scanned. (ALC-1863)<br />
2. Emails with certain header information do not display attachments correctly via the Alchemy viewer. (ALC-2129)<br />
3. Alchemy Viewer pane freezes after subscanning into a tiff image and will not refresh. (ALC-1654)<br />
4. Password protected PDF file causes database problems. (ALC-1851)<br />
5. Alchemy not working with Adobe Reader X (10) installed on client. (ALC-2621)<br />
6. When using Scan separator page causes scanning performance to slow down. (ALC-233)<br />
7. Library Services &#8220;My Document&#8221; tab is no longer available once a document has been checked out on Windows 7 operating system. (ALC-2221)</p>
<h3>Alchemy Web</h3>
<p>1. Alchemy Web session times out if images are viewed in a separate window. (ALC-1902)<br />
2. Cross-Site Scripting Protection (ALC-2074)<br />
3. URL interface to AlchemyWeb.ASPX changed causing issues with application integration. (ALC-2210)<br />
4. Error message is displayed when trying to select Alchemy Website in Alchemy Web Application MMC. (ALC-868)<br />
5. Email from Alchemy Web doesn&#8217;t work with Windows 2008 R2 &#8211; IIS 7 (ALC-2440)</p>
<h3>Alchemy MFP</h3>
<p>1. Database(s) that have security group enabled would not let you access custom MFP buttons. (ALC-2076)</p>

<h3>Open Text Document Server - The Maintenance Lifecycle</h3>
<p>Open Text has a well defined lifecycle for the maintenance of <a href="http://www.processflows.co.uk/technology/document-management/alchemy-document-server/" target="_self">Open Text Document Server</a>. The lifecycle runs as follows:</p>
<p><strong>Current Maintenance </strong>- For up to 18 months after release, the software is fully supported; defects can be reported; Hot Fixes, Patches and Service Packs are produced; Enhancement and Feature Requests are accepted.</p>
<p><strong>Past Maintenance</strong> &#8211; For up to 18 months after the end of Current Maintenance, the software is supported; defects cannot be reported; Hot Fixes, Patches and Service Packs are not produced; Enhancement and Feature Requests are not accepted.</p>
<p><strong>End of Life </strong>- Once the Past Maintenance period is complete, Open Text no longer provide support for that version of the software. <strong><em><a href="http://www.processflows.co.uk/client-services/support/" target="_self">At this point, Avanquest ProcessFlows continue to support that version of the software on a Reasonable Endeavours basis.</a></em></strong></p>
<p>For reference, the current Maintenance Lifecycle dates are as follows:</p>
<ul>
<li>8.3 will enter End of Life status 24 months after the release of subsequent version</li>
<li>8.2 SP4 will enter End of Life status in October 2010</li>
<li>8.2 entered End of Life in August 2009</li>
<li>8.0 entered End of Life on June 1, 2008</li>
<li>7.6 entered End of Life on February 1, 2007</li>
<li>7.0 and below have entered End of Life status</li>

The latest edition of <a title="Document Server" href="http://www.processflows.co.uk/technology/document-management/alchemy-document-server/">Open Text Document Server, Alchemy Edition</a>(formerly Captaris Alchemy) has been made available &#8211; Service Release 5. It delivers essential fixes for issues in Document Server 8.3 as well as providing support for the latest Microsoft operating systems. These include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 32 bit and 64 bit</li>
<li>Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, 64 bit</li>
<li>Microsoft Windows 7, 32 bit and 64 bit</li>
<li>Document Server Connector Module installation is now supported on Microsoft Windows 7, 32 bit</li>
</ul>
<p>In addition, Document Server 8.3 Service Release 5 includes fixes for the following defects:</p>
<ul>
<li>Japanese indexing problem found in Alchemy 8.3SR3. (ALC-1751)</li>
<li>Alchemy Server Backup build setting &#8220;Ignore build errors and continue&#8221; does not translate when running Aubackup.exe. (ALC-1759)</li>
<li>Databases that contain a file that cannot be indexed, fails to log the file to the database log. (ALC-1760)</li>
<li>Unable to build an Alchemy database when certain XREF documents are present. (ALC-1770)</li>
<li>XREF file will not work when the path is hardcoded and the database is under Alchemy Server control. (ALC-1772)</li>
<li>Alchemy MFP Module unable to obtain a license when running on 64-bit operating systems. (ALC-1830)</li>
<li>Fixed Alchemy Search hit highlight for OCR documents. (ALC-1840)</li>
<li>RALA needed both a Date Field and a Date/Time field. (ALC-1786)</li>
</ul>
<div><span style="font-size: x-small">Please note there is a known installation issue when upgrading the Alchemy Web Application from Alchemy 8.3 SR4 to Alchemy 8.3 SR5, where a duplicate entry for &#8216;machineKey&#8217; in Web.config is created. This only applies if you have installed Alchemy Web Application SR4 using full installer (CD-CMS) and now you are upgrading it to SR5 using patch installer; however two workarounds are available and are explained in the documentation.</span></div>

In December 2009, the latest edition of <a title="Document Server" href="http://www.processflows.co.uk/technology/document-management/alchemy-document-server/">Open Text Document Server, Alchemy Edition</a> (formerly Captaris Alchemy) was released. This updated the software to version 8.3 Service Release 4. With this latest release, Document Server is now supported in the latest Microsoft operating systems, including:</p>
<ul>
<li>Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 (32 and 64 bit)</li>
<li>Microsoft Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit) for Alchemy clients</li>
<li>File connector on Microsoft Windows 7</li>
</ul>
<p>The service release also contains a number of enhancements. These include:</p>

<li>Alchemy Web Parts support on MOSS 2007 (32 and 64 bit)</li>
<li>Alchemy Web with customizable profile columns</li>
<li>Enhanced Library Services performance</li>
