OpenText RightFax – A Sound Investment
The Customer:
Standard Bank Investment Corporation Limited, based in Johannesburg, is the holding company for the interests of the Standard Bank Group. Outside of Africa, Standard International Holdings S.A. represents the Group’s international financial services group with a banking subsidiary located in London, a broker/dealer subsidiary in New York with a branch in Miami, and a licensed deposit taking subsidiary in Hong Kong. In addition, the Standard International Holdings Group has offices in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Czech Republic, Iran, Italy, New Zealand, Peru, Republic of China, Russia, Singapore, Sweden and the United Arab Emirates.
The Challenges:
There was an increasing requirement to fax in volume and to have a more functional faxing capability at the London hub.
“Due to the extensive international presence I wanted to find a product that not only embraced new technology but allowed us to harness the value of the WAN and also give Standard Bank a competitive advantage,” comments Stuart Pallant, the Technical Services Manager based in London. As the South African office were already successfully running RightFax it was decided to invite Netcomm, a ProcessFlows Partner, to demonstrate the product.
The Solution:
The decision was made to purchase RightFax with an Exchange email gateway and a 16 line Brooktrout fax board, to provide access to network faxing capabilities for all 500 London based employees. The Exchange gateway is synchronised with RightFax to allow the faxes to be delivered straight into the users mailboxes.
“The account management is handled by Andy Connolly at Netcomm, who is always professional and helpful,” comments Trevor Masters, Messaging Consultant. “Part of the overall solution package supplied by Netcomm was extra RightFax administrator training days to ensure we had plenty of technical staff who were fully conversant with the product. The ProcessFlows trainer was good and we all found this very beneficial.”
Standard Bank also ran a series of in-house workshops to train their users.
RightFax is very beneficial to the Trading Environment, especially Foreign Exchange where the speed of communicating the most recent market knowledge and prices is critical. Stuart states, “The more timely information we provide to our clients, the more likely they are to trade with us. We have a world wide client list that is mailed daily, only one list needs to be maintained, this contains both fax and email numbers enabling us to effectively and simply mail the recipients in their chosen media.”
For inbound faxing the heaviest users are ‘Equity Operations’, these are directed to a Public Folder on the Exchange Server. This provides a central repository for their faxes that they can easily access, with fully controlled security. “One of the main driving forces behind the choice of RightFax was the future possibilities it offers. Standard Bank are already looking to install RightFax in the other international locations so they can take advantage of the RightFax Least Cost Routing options,” Stuart concludes.
The Benefits:
To international corporations such as Standard Bank the savings made by utilising LCR will be substantial. As Standard took the Premier Support option they will shortly be installing the latest upgrade, free of charge. Fast effective communication is clearly one of Standard Bank’s many strengths, and by utilising the most innovative technologies in software communication they are demonstrating their commitment to their world wide client base.
“Due to the extensive international presence I wanted to find a product that not only embraced new technology but allowed us to harness the value of the WAN and also give Standard Bank a competitive advantage” Stuart Pallant, Technical Services Manager
